Since then, the smartphone has got tremendous success and reached sky high demand rate. The dual core processor phone managed to receive pre-orders for 3 million Galaxy S2 units globally.
After having this huge success, it is rumored that Samsung has been busy working on the next version of the smartphone Samsung Galaxy S3. It is expected that the device will feature a Samsung Exynos 4212 processor clocked at 1.8GHz and an ARM Cortex A9 chip, which will offer a 25% performance boost and a 30% reduction in power consumption.
You can find plenty of rumors across the Internet about Samsung Galaxy S3, and the expectations of its fans are quite high. J.K. Shin, president of Samsung’s mobile communications division has confirmed the release of the next generation of the Galaxy smartphone will follow-up sometime in 2012. It is also expected that the Galaxy S3 will most probably be powered by Google’s latest OS – Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Rumors indicate that Samsung may unveil Galaxy S3 at a similar time to the iPhone 5, which is in mid-2012.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Features
Although the smartphone is yet to be officially announced, this post features about the expected hardware and software specifications in the Samsung Galaxy S3. The post is purely based on rumors and we are not sure whether the phone will sport these features.
Processor and Memory
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S3 smartphone, also known as the “iPhone killer”, is expected to include a quad-core processor. As I mentioned, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is believed to have a Samsung Exynos 4212 processor clocked at 1.8GHz. This processor is a 32nm chip with 50 percent greater graphics performance and 30 percent less power consumption than its previous chip, the Exynos 4410 which featured in the Samsung Galaxy S2. It is also claimed to be 5 times faster than its Mali-400 MP chip of its predecessor.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 will have multi-tasking feature, which will allow you to efficiently run multiple applications simultaneously. To enable easy multi-tasking process and playing games, it is rumored that the smartphone will come with 2GB RAM. It is likely to be the first smart phone to boast 2GB of RAM, and will come with a generous 32GB of storage.
Design and Display
One thing that many users on the Internet that talk about Samsung Galaxy phones is its display. The Samsung Galaxy S3 will sport a giant 4.6 inch screen, slightly bigger than its predecessor Galaxy S2, which has 4.3 inch screen. This would account to a 1280×720 screen resolution of the Galaxy S3. It is known that Samsung accidentally leaked that it would release the phone with the new flexible glass specifically – FOLED technology.
A creative design company based in Ukrainian drafted a concept design of the Samsung Galaxy S3, showing that the upcoming smartphone will be similar to Galaxy S2 in terms of looks and design. However, it is known that the home button has been replaced with a Samsung logo and slimmed down to make space for the larger screen.
Camera in the Samsung Galaxy S3
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is likely to sport a 12 megapixels rear camera, while the current GS2 boasts a 8 megapixels. It will have a 1/2.3-inch sensor, which is much bigger than the 1/3.2 inch CMOS chip found in several smartphone, including the Apple iPhone 4S.

However, some rumors indicate that Samsung is planning to launch the smartphone with a 16 megapixels camera. There are several smartphone that already have a 12 megapixels camera, including some Nokia phones. But if the rumor about GS3 featuring a 16 megapixels camera turns out true, then it would be a major successful stroke for Samsung.
Latest Android OS

Yes, the smartphone is expected to have the latest release of the Android OS – Ice Cream Sandwich, which has the following new features included:
- Face Unlock, a feature that allows users to unlock handsets using facial recognition software
- Better voice integration and continuous, real-time speech to text dictation

iphone vs samsung round 1000... Fight!!!
I'd love to see this having 8-12 physical buttons on the underside, not so much for the home/menu, but for phone control, for video/music playback control, gaming, and better camera control -- these are seriously lacking on almost every touchscreen phone available, as far as I have seen -- grabbing your phone from you pocket and taking a quick snapshot in a second is impossible with a phone camera, you have to hunt through unlock, menu, camera app, fiddle with zoom, etc all with your eyes off the subject, which is one reason phone cameras cannot compete with point-and-shoot cameras; in video playback/games you can't adjust settings without running your fingers across the screen, why not shift the controls to somewhere more useful. this could place more buttons on the edge of the phone, but this often interferes with the after-market cases that most people use, and there are arguably too many buttons cluttering the sides of phones already, so shifting all of it to the back could work extremely well if it was properly designed.
Can't wait for its release
Why? very few dual sim phones are released... I do expect that to change though, but im and Apple fan boy, so hope Iphone 5 will have something like that for when I travel
dual can be added to any modern phone, (aside from the iPhones), with an adapter costing just a few dollars.
if there is a version of this released for the HK/China market it will may well come in a dual-sim factory option, but with the Samsung dual-sim models I've used in the past, it had little advantage over the simple adapter.
